Forward for UNL women’s soccer team
Years playing: Since I was 5
What is your current position on the team?
I am a forward and sometimes a midfielder. For both positions, always in the attack, usually dribbling down the wing, crossing the ball, and shooting to score goals!
What sparked your interest in athletics?
My whole life I have always loved to be active and be outside. My favorite part of sports is competing, and the competition side of sports is what drew me to athletics.

What is your current position on the team?
I play goalkeeper for the women’s soccer team at UNL.
What sparked your interest in athletics?
Growing up, I was always watching my siblings play sports and going to their club and high school competitions. My parents always said I copied them and would practice whatever sport they were doing. I know that is where I started as many sports as I could from a young age. Trying them all out and learning which ones I liked and which one I loved.

Did you know?
- In just its third season, Nebraska went undefeated in the 1996 regular season (19-0), won both the Big 12 regular season and tournament titles, and advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight. The Huskers entered the tournament as the only unbeaten and untied team in the nation.
- Eleven former Cornhuskers have competed in the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Basketball
Did you know?
- Long before women’s sports were widely accepted, Nebraska’s women’s basketball team played its first intercollegiate game in 1901, defeating the University of Missouri. This marked one of the earliest organized women’s athletic competitions in the country.
- In the 2009-2010 season, the Huskers went 30–0 in the regular season, the first Big 12 men’s or women’s team to do so. They finished 32–2 overall, reached the Sweet Sixteen, and drew the program’s first–ever sellout crowd at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
Beach volleyball
Did you know?
- The Nebraska Beach Volleyball program was officially launched in 2021, making it one of the newer NCAA-sanctioned sports at the university.
- The beach team often includes dual-sport athletes from the indoor volleyball roster, especially during the spring season.
Bowling
Did you know?
- Nebraska has won eight national titles, including six NCAA championships, making it the most decorated program in NCAA women’s bowling.
- The program has produced All-Americans for 35 straight years, with 55 bowlers earning 111 All-Academic honors.
Cross country
Did you know?
- The Huskers have won five conference championships and four district titles, showcasing a strong tradition of competitive excellence across multiple decades.
- Since 2000, the women’s cross-country team has earned Nebraska’s Herman Award, given to the athletic team with the highest cumulative GPA, 13 times more than any other program at the university.
Gymnastics

- Nebraska has been a consistent national contender, reaching the NCAA Super Six Finals multiple times, along with Big Eight, Big 12, and Big Ten championships.
- Nebraska has produced over 50 All-Americans, with multiple athletes earning honors on vault, bars, beam, floor, and all-around.
Golf
Did you know?
- In 2021, Kate Smith became Nebraska’s first-ever Big Ten Conference champion in women’s golf. She tied her own school record with a final-round 64 (-8) at TPC River’s Bend, securing the title and making program history.
- Heidi Wall (Stark) became Nebraska women’s golf’s first CoSIDA Academic All-American in 1996. She was also a two-time NGCA Scholastic All-American and a two-time Academic All-Big 12 selection, setting a high academic standard for the program.
Rifle

- Nebraska Rifle has 23 NCAA top 10 finishes, including eight in the top five, a testament to the program’s long-standing national competitiveness.
- In January 2025, junior Emma Rhode set a program record for the highest aggregate score at the Roger Withrow Invitational, highlighting the team’s continued excellence and individual talent development.
Softball
Did you know?
- Nebraska has made seven appearances in the Women’s College World Series. Additionally, the program has qualified for the NCAA Tournament more than 25 times, establishing itself as one of the most consistent and successful softball programs in the Midwest.
- Nebraska Softball consistently ranks among the top in the Big Ten for Academic All-Big Ten selections and NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes.
Swimming and diving
Did you know?
- In 1983, Nebraska placed third overall at the inaugural NCAA Division I Women’s Swimming & Diving Championship, behind only Stanford and Florida. This early success marked Nebraska as a national contender in the sport’s first official NCAA-sanctioned season.
- Nebraska’s program has developed Olympic-level talent, including Helene Muller, who represented South Africa in the 2000 Sydney Olympics, and Therese Alshammar, who swam for Nebraska before becoming a three-time Olympic medalist for Sweden.
Tennis
Did you know?
- Isabella Barrera and Kristina Novak were standout performers in recent years, earning All-Big Ten honors and national rankings in both singles and doubles.
- Mary Weatherholt is one of the most decorated players in program history as a two-time Big Ten Player of the Year and reaching the NCAA Singles Quarterfinals in 2013.
Track and field
Did you know?
- Jenna Rogers set the high jump school and facility record in 2025, clearing 1.94m (6-4¼).
- Axelina Johansson achieved the nation-leading shot put mark of 18.59m (61-0) in 2025 and won the 2025 NCAA Indoor Championship in shot put.
Volleyball
Did you know?
- In 1975, with no state funding, the team jogged 50 miles from Lincoln to Omaha to raise money for uniforms and travel, just one day after a match. This grassroots effort helped fund their trip to a national tournament and symbolized their determination and grit.
- Nebraska’s first volleyball coach, Pat Sullivan, was also the swimming coach and led the team to a 34–8 record in its debut season. Her dual role reflects the early challenges of building women’s athletics programs from the ground up.
